Marathon Mix 6 by Morgan Zarate

Wow wow woo weeeeeee it’s time for a Zarate parteeeeeee!
DJ/producer Morgan Zarate, formerly of critically acclaimed band Spacek, has also produced records for US soul singers Raphael Saaqid and Musiq Soulchild, as well as releasing under his own name.

What you may not know, is that Morgan is also a Run Dem Crew founding member, and whilst he may have since eschewed the Lycra (though he does still like a bit of grey marl), Morgan remains loyal to the London runners. So he's leaving the miles to the pros and is keeping in charge of the music instead...

I'm really happy to say that Morgan's made an exclusive Marathon Mix in time for the Berlin Half Marathon which me and the Run Dem Crew will be running this weekend.

Listen, download and run like ‘elle!!!! And extra points if you can hear the running reference :-)

Morgan has records coming out on Hyperdub, and under his production collaboration alias TheShining on Young Turks this year.

Thanks Zzzarate. x

Marathon Mix 5 by Noisses

Get ready for the rave, or should that be the run?! Either way, when you listen to this – your head will most definitely be in a dark and moody club somewhere...

I am super happy to present the fifth run like ‘elle marathon mix, by Noisses.

A well know face, and name on the London scene, Noisses comes from a musical family, and his early influences hail from his dad, a well known Jazz musician.

Having DJ’d since the age of 15, Noisses’ sound spans genres playing out Garage, 2-step, Drum&Bass and Hip-Hop, and more recently Dubstep too. He is an accomplished musician, DJ and producer and I’m super happy to have his mix on here.
I think that this is definitely a mile 18 wall breaker motivator...

Marathon mix 3 by DJ Smutlee

Wow wow wee wow it's time for DJ Smutlee's Marathon Mix, and he's only gone and invented a genre! Run like 'elle presents Runbahton - it's Moombahton, but with a fast step running flex.
Smutlee is a DJ, designer - and few may know this but also a champion dirt bike racer too! The man of many talents has kindly made me a mix to hop, skip and jump to - and the best bit is that you can do so too!
So, here's the swap again - music for money. Please show your appreciation and support by donating to my Wateraid Marathon appeal, here. The amount is totally up to you, but every penny definitely helps, and it goes to a very worthy cause. WaterAid is a global charity which provides water and sanitation aid and education to people across 26 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and it's who I'm running the London Marathon 2011 in support of.
So, for all the runners and the ravers. Runbahton - here we go!

Marathon Mix 2 by Ross Allen

I am very happy to present the second run like ‘elle Marathon Mix by critically - and publicly acclaimed music aficionado Ross Allen.

In addition to launching the career of many a band and releasing hit singles for the Sugarbabes, Talvin Singh and Spacek – among many others, Ross has broadcast on BBC Radio One and the BBC World Service, won a Sony Radio Award and DJ’d around the world – from Malawi to Memphis.

Renowned for his extensive and eclectic music taste, Ross’ sets can contain anything from new London music, Disco, Country and almost anything in between, and he has kindly cooked up an eclectic mix of UK Funky, House and Garage - with a little help from Spencer Davis, for us to up our paces to, and step a little harder.

Marathon Mix 1 by Ross - Part Time Heroes

It is with massive amounts of pleasure and pride that I present the inaugural run like 'elle Marathon Mix! Easing us in to the training schedule is a soulful mix by one of the nicest men in music, the first featured DJ is Ross Wakefield - one half of production duo Part Time Heroes.

In true Part Time Hero style Ross has expertly combined soul, disco and a touch of dub to create the perfect soundtrack to your jog. This is sure to get your toe tapping and kick-start the hot stepping.

Part Time Heroes have remixed a host of artists for labels including Tru Thoughts, Compost, First Word and Hospital Records, and have DJ'd and played live around the UK as well as throughout Europe and the Far East. Following their 2008 LP, the Part Time Heroes are currently working on the hotly anticipated follow-up, due to drop in September this year.

You can catch them at the festivals this summer, and if you can't wait that long (you shouldn't), then I highly recommend subscribing to their internationally revered monthly music podcasts. The Hideout Sessions champion new music spanning funk to dubstep with a few surprises in between, and it makes for two hours of hilarious listening.

Please download, listen and enjoy! My only request is that you make a voluntary donation to my marathon sponsorship appeal. Even if it's only a £ or two, it is much appreciated and will help me reach my goal of raising £3,000 for Wateraid - a very worthy cause.
